INTRODUCING LIFT LINE ACCESS FOR ALL!

Lift Line is thrilled to announce the expansion of its services through the Access for All program. Now, all residents with disabilities in Santa Cruz County can access Lift Line’s door-to-door transportation, regardless of income level!

This groundbreaking initiative, made possible by a state grant from the California Public Utilities Commission’s Transportation Network Company’s (TNC) Access for All program administered by the Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission, represents a significant leap forward in accessible transportation services.

For a nominal flat fee of just $5 per ride (income-eligible older adults and people with disabilities will continue to enjoy Lift Line’s services at no cost), residents with disabilities can access transportation to any destination within the county.

Lift Line’s self-service mobile app, akin to platforms like Uber and Lyft, is the primary means to schedule rides. Users can schedule rides up to seven days in advance, with same-day pickups available. To register for the program and access the app, call 831-688-9663.

The funding for the Access for All Program results from Senate Bill 376, which directed the CPUC to establish a program to improve the accessibility of TNC services, including wheelchair-accessible vehicles, for people with disabilities. The program is funded by a 10-cent “Access Fee” collected from each completed TNC trip originating in the State of California.

Community Bridges’ Lift Line Access for All program sets a new standard for accessible transportation, ensuring that all Santa Cruz County residents with disabilities can enjoy the freedom of mobility and access to the services they need.

Fueled by Measure D

Measure D is a comprehensive and inclusive package of transportation improvements passed in November 2016 by over 2/3 of Santa Cruz County voters (83,816). This ½-cent sales tax guarantees every city and the county a steady, direct source of local funding for local streets and road maintenance, bicycle and pedestrian projects (especially near schools), safety projects, and transit and paratransit service, as well as numerous essential transportation projects and programs throughout the county as outlined in the Expenditure Plan for Measure D.

The ½-cent, 30-year sales tax measure includes transportation projects that support:

  • Providing safer routes to schools for local students
  • Maintaining mobility and independence for seniors and those with disabilities
  • Investing in bicycle and pedestrian pathways and bridges
  • Repaving roadways, repair potholes, and improve safety on local streets
  • Improving traffic flow on major roadways
  • Investing in projects that reduce the pollution that causes global warming

As the only non-Local Government Agency, Lift Line a program of Community Bridges is charged with providing the transportation needs of people with disabilities and seniors, beyond the ¼ mile transit stop. We provide comprehensive and free qualifying rides to connect those who helped build our community and to that which they helped create.

Through our work with the Elderly and Disabled Transportation Advisory Committee, we work together to meet the needs of our community and ensure access to everyone in our community.

Measure D

“I quit driving when I turned 80, my eyesight was bad and I didn’t want to endanger others or myself on the road. So this gives me a safer way of getting around. All of my kids live out of the area, so without anyone else around at home, it gets too quiet in the house. I like getting out.”

—Charlotte, age 87, Lift Line participant
