When an immigrant head of household is suddenly detained or separated from their family, households lose both income and care overnight. Children face housing instability, food insecurity, and trauma.

Through the Puentes Para Familias program Community Bridges steps in to keep families impacted by immigration enforcement whole by providing up to $2,500 in emergency aid for bond, rent, utilities, childcare, or other urgent costs.

Who We Help

  • Households where a head of household (primary wage earner or caregiver) has been detained within the last 90 days.
  • Families who live or work in Santa Cruz, Monterey, or San Benito County.
  • Families with income below 80% of Area Median Income (AMI), with priority for those below 50%.
  • Households with limited assets ($5,000 or less).

How We Direct Aid

We prioritize families with:

  • Children or dependent adults at home
  • No legal counsel yet
  • Immediate housing instability
  • A bond gap where $2,500 helps
  • Upcoming court dates within 30 days
