About Us

For Children:

Through positive guidance, and a dynamic bilingual curriculum, we create a foundation for children’s healthy development and school readiness. We work with children to foster: a love of learning; literacy and numeracy skills, social and emotional development; curiosity, exploration and creativity; cooperation and collaboration; problem-solving skills; and respect for self, family, community and the environment.

For Families:

We know that parents are the experts of their own children. We provide opportunities and resources for families to gain knowledge, strengthen parenting skills, share information, and develop partnerships within the community. Part-time and full-day care are available. We offer subsidized care for qualified, low-income families. See our eligibility requirements for subsidized care for details.

Our Teachers:

We know that a good teacher is one who travels the winding road with the child as a guide and companion, rather than as the ‘smart’ leader who must control the child’s behavior. Our centers maintain low teacher-to-child ratios. We offer developmentally, culturally and linguistically appropriate play-based programs, catering to the unique needs of each child.

Our Qualifications:

We are proud to maintain the highest standards for our Early Education Centers to ensure a safe learning environment. Each member of our teaching staff is: (1) Interactive and engaged in each child’s learning; (2) CPR and First Aid certified, and trained in the latest Health and Safety practices; (3) Health screened, TB tested, and fingerprinted with clearance as required by Community Care Licensing.

The 'Blacktop to Bloom' Project

EED Awarded $3 Million CALFIRE Grant to Transform Early Education Outdoor Spaces

Community Bridges’ Early Education Division has received a $3 million grant from CALFIRE’s Urban and Community Forestry Program to turn our childcare centers’ outdoor play spaces into nature-based learning environments. Through the “Blacktop to Bloom” project, we will remove up to 10,000 square feet of concrete from centers in Watsonville, Freedom, Santa Cruz, and the San Lorenzo Valley, replacing it with trees, gardens, and eco-friendly play structures.

This project aims to enhance outdoor classrooms, increase tree canopy cover, and promote environmental stewardship. It will provide shaded play areas, reduce heat islands, and support healthier eating habits through vegetable gardens and fruit trees. Children will benefit from hands-on nature learning, while the community gains greener, more sustainable spaces.

We’re excited to see this initiative flourish, benefiting both children and the environment for years to come. Check back to monitor progress and achievements in the near future.
