The Family Resource Collective works with individuals and families in Santa Cruz County and the Pajaro Valley to build safe, healthy, and compassionate communities through education, resources, and advocacy. We offer a variety of services to meet each family and individuals needs. Our programs and services include food distribution, mental health counseling, parent education workshops, public benefits enrollment assistance, youth tutoring and more. We seek to meet the needs of families through bi-lingual, bi-cultural support on both a long and short-term basis. Our drop-in advocacy support aims to help our community access resources and set goals to address issues such as housing, employment, education, domestic violence prevention, childcare and more.
We partner with professionally pre-licensed clinical counselors to offer free counseling and advocacy to youth, families and individuals. Our services provide support for people to learn and access healthy coping skills, stress management techniques and work on other issues as needed. Our Housing Navigation Support services are here to guide you through the intricate process of finding a safe and secure home. Our dedicated advocates are committed to helping you locate suitable housing options and connecting you with vital services and other providers capable of securing emergency rental assistance and additional essential resources.
We offer a variety of parent education classes and one-on-one sessions, including classes that address a wide range of topics including preventing tantrums, traveling in the car, managing chores, the power of self-esteem, and more. Classes, workshops, seminars and individual sessions are available in both Spanish and English, funding for the program is made available by First 5 Santa Cruz County.
Our advocates help with enrollment and reporting for government benefits and services (i.e. Cal-Fresh, unemployment, MediCal, CoveredCA). Our advocates can help you select the best healthcare program for you and your family.

The Family Resource Collective’s Eviction Defense Collaborative is an alliance between Community Bridges, Tenant Sanctuary, Senior Legal Services, and the Conflict Resolution Center of Santa Cruz County, created as a lifeline for distressed tenants and landlords.
The Eviction Defense Collaborative operates from the Family Resource Collective sites throughout Santa Cruz County. It offers a range of critical services to prevent legal evictions, ease the burden on vulnerable residents, and support landlords in what sometimes may feel like an adversarial process.

Here’s a snapshot of the essential services provided by the Collaborative’s partner organizations:
Tenant Sanctuary: Offers free tenants’ rights counseling and assists tenants in demanding that landlords adhere to the rules. They hold walk-in office hours at Live Oak Community Resources every Wednesday and one-on-one phone counseling sessions with referrals.
Conflict Resolution Center of Santa Cruz County (CRC): Provides free mediation services for various tenant-landlord disputes, including home repairs, rent increases, evictions, and unsanitary conditions. CRC holds walk-in office hours at La Manzana Community Resources every Thursday.
Senior Legal Services (SLS): Offers free legal case evaluation, document preparation, and potential legal representation to tenants served with evictions (unlawful detainers). SLS plays a crucial role in negotiating move-out agreements that mitigate the long-term impacts of court-ordered evictions. Given the time-sensitive nature of these cases, SLS responds to referrals promptly through our case referral process. They hold office hours at La Manzana every Monday.
For the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Medi-Cal patients are required to re-enroll in the health care plan. If your Medi-Cal renewal is due soon, look for your renewal packet in a yellow mail envelope. People are asked to fill it out and return it right away.
